These words may be familiar to you from childhood. They have been sung with gusto in many a classroom past. Apparently it’s no longer sung in classrooms but perhaps it should make a comeback. Perhaps we need to be reminded that, contrary to the popular adage that ‘there is no such word as can’t,’ there actually is and for good reason. You can’t buy a house with no money. You can’t become a professional surfer overnight (this was contributed by my friend’s 10 year old son). So there you have it. Let’s get real and acknowledge the word can’t. It keeps us safe from buffaloes.
But you can be happy if you’ve a mind to!
So here’s the catch (you knew there had to be one).
If you can’t do something right now, and it’s your heart’s desire to do it, make a plan! The first step is being passionate about the thing you want to do. This might seem pretty obvious but people still aren’t doing it. So let’s take the buffalo by the horns and write down the first steps to achieving what you want to achieve.
So, here is my plan of going to Europe in 2018:
Each square is $250 and my target is $12 000. My ideas of reaching my goal are in pencil and as each square is coloured in, I’m going to fill other squares with ideas to reach my target. I do this with many of my goals and as each goal is reached, I plan another goal. It keeps me motivated and focused on what I can do, rather than what I can’t do.
And just to give you inspiration, I’m including the song for you so the words can be one of those songs that you can’t get out of your head. I think they are pretty wonderful words really.
Whatever you’d like to plan;
Just do it, do it, do it!
